Hailing from the Chicago suburbs, Novak is a racing driver who has nearly built-up a decade’s worth of racing experience beginning from go-karts to now in SCCA pro racing. In just his first year alone participating in Spec Miata, Novak finished the racing season with a proud number of accolades that include winning six races, the first of which being only his third start ever in pro racing, and eleven more podiums. The Midwestern Council sanctioning body granted him Rookie of the Year.
In 2023, out of the seventeen SCCA and NASA races Novak participated in, nearly half of them were wins at eight, alongside four more being podium finishes. In the SCCA’s running of the 2023 June Sprints at Road America, Novak boldly finished out of a field of nearly seventy cars, 2nd, in just his second participation of the prolific event. Both a quick and decisive driver on track, Novak’s consistent pace is one to be reckoned with to even the most skillful drivers.
Novak’s forte may come from driving Spec Miata, however another great milestone to come out the recent racing season is from adding more unique vehicles and series to his portfolio.
Recently, Novak has joined the ranks of the Spec MX-5 Challenge Series to fuel the passion of becoming successful in a professional racing series, and in doing so has increased his skills in piloting Miata’s from driving at least two NC’s in the series. Novak has also made his consistency present in endurance racing from piloting a team BMW 3 Series in the 24 Hours of Lemons. Lastly, if not racing in Spec Miata, Novak also drives a Subaru BRZ in the SCCA’s ITJ class respectively, with that car alone seeing nothing but victories.
Having grown up into a family fond about cars and motorsports, Novak has always been passionate towards the automotive side of sports and being part of the racing community. From starting out in driving small go-karts to always being surrounded by new things surrounding the culture of motorsports, Novak has learned much about what it takes to be both a good competitor and how to have a blast doing it, along with learning the mechanics of the machines he pilots, a mindset he still carries with him to this day.
Off-track, some of Novak’s hobbies include photography, graphic design, art making, and collecting racing memorabilia.
